The pond holds 100 fish across four difficulty tiers. Every one you land goes into your dex, and filling it is the season's long game.

Non-subs can fish and fill their dex too. Novatokens are the part that needs an active sub.

Any catch has a small chance of coming up prismatic. It counts as catching that fish and marks your dex entry prismatic forever, even if you only ever catch a plain one afterwards.

A prismatic fish also pays a novatoken. Fight a species often enough and its prismatic version gets easier to hook.

There are 10 trophies in a season and you can only ever find each one once. They are not in the normal pool, so they cannot be hunted, only stumbled on.

A chest can surface alongside your catch. Inside is a blueprint, materials, fight coins, bait, or a novatoken.

Not every chest is friendly. Some of them bite.

Every item is in the pond every day, the same for everyone. Hook one and it rides your next Fish Fight.

Some help your party. Some very much do not.

The Short Line keeps you among fish your Fish Fight level can beat, so a fish that fights back is one you can take on. The Long Line reaches the entire pond, all 100.

Short to climb, long to collect.

Bait leans your cast toward a kind of fish without ever guaranteeing it. Basic Bait never runs out; the rest are spent as you use them, and when the last one goes you drop back to Basic automatically.

Every rod past the Bamboo does one thing well: more prismatic fish, an extra cast now and then, two fish on one hook, bait that lasts longer, or fish far more willing to fight you.

Fight as a Warrior, Thief, White Mage or Black Mage. Each one holds a different corner of the fight, and a party missing one feels it.

Beat the same species 10 times and you master it. A mastered fish comes up prismatic twice as often for you from then on, and that fish is worth no more XP.

Your fighter gets stronger from levels, and levels come from XP. Every fish you beat pays XP up to ten kills of that species.

Winning pays fight coins and materials. Blueprints come from chests you fish up and from the Fish Fight shop. Take your blueprint, materials, and Fight Coins to the Forge.

Past the ordinary pond fish are the raids, and they do not turn up on a cast. They are called, and they are meant to be hard.

On 25% of wins, one subbed fighter is picked at random and handed a novatoken. Beat a Cannibox and every subbed fighter in the party gets one.

Around 1 in 50 catches surfaces prismatic, and it pays 1 novatoken.

It also marks that dex entry prismatic permanently, even if every one you land afterwards is a plain one.

A trophy is the biggest single payout in the pond at 2 novatokens. There are 10 in a season and each one can only ever be found once.

A chest surfaces on roughly 1 in 10 catches, and a novatoken is one of the things that can be sitting in it.

Sometimes when chat beats a fish (25% of wins), one subbed fighter is drawn at random and pockets a novatoken. Beating a Cannibox pays every subbed fighter in the party one.

Every novatoken you earn has a 5% chance of coming up shiny, which is worth one extra. Same odds on every source, from any game.
